feeling of loss
bright summer sun and
shining,
anticipation
the solstice
will herald a new
season of scruffling in
piles of orange and red
kicking up all the problems
then swirling all the sadness
tension madness disappointment
so sit on the porch swing
snap open the hard cider
cut a fair slice of bread
and cheese
and toast to the change of the
seasons
toast to apple harvest
and toast to you
lasting through to
another equinox
of change and rebirth
Mmm, this is such a sensual poem! The feel of leaves swirling, the cider and bread. Such a vivid sense of autumn here!

Thank you, Christine. I’m glad you say how vivid I find fall.
Fall is my favourite season; I feel like a kid again, jumping into piles of leaves or scuffing them along the sidewalk. I think that is why my autumn poems carry a special “magic”

And, I’m drinking hard cider even yummier to me.
Yes and a special cheer to honeycrisps and old fashioned gravensteins!
