octpowrimo: #1 Life Once Beneath Our Feet

Life Once Beneath Our Feet

ground parched, crackled

stunted plants

burnt gardens

bleaching bones

stench of death

dry, crinkled grass

explodes in

blast furnace winds

as night turns to burning dawn

no smell of rain

on horizon

grim reaper

drought

yet another day

octpowrimo: poem one

  1. And I thought mine was a downer poem for today! This is definitely powerful though. Such a bleak picture. I need to run and read something happy now. (Yes, that is a compliment…is intended as one anyway). 🙂

    • Thank you for the compliment. My poems often explore the dark side, the bleak side, there is no happy ending. I can write a cherry piece. Hopefully at least one this month. Did you find something happy?

I like first person narratives.
