sunday photo fiction: the bones of our ancestors

laid bare to sun and moon

Al, the sunday fictioner and his prompt for Sunday, July 27.

these are the bones of our ancestors

these are the bones of our ancestors

laid bare to the sun and the moon

no one left to mourn them

one million they say

scattered to all manner of place

with thoughts always of home

another million stayed to die

what to do with the bones of our ancestors?

leaving these precious bones to the

academics, archeologists, students, “amateurs”

study, map, pontificate, speculate, subvert, write papers, publish books

on the backs of our dead

watch nature in its raw form take back the stones, the bones

hide them away so only those of the true spirit

the generation upon generation

in all manner of places

called by the bones of our ancestors

to mourn and then to raise the land

once again

I like first person narratives.
