the distant

thunder rolls

across roof tops

houses quake

when lightening

hits its mark

hail beats

a rhythm

on pavement

rain sluices

down the

sidewalk

I knew

storm was coming

not by listening to

meteorologists

or scrolling weather

web-pages

smell of distant rain

seeping into dry earth

deep pain in my head

as barometric pressure

when storm front

is on the move

I understand

weather

I am barometer

storm chaser

rain gauge

counter

of seconds

between

lightening

and thunder

I like first person narratives.
